French illustrator SO-ME (Bertrand De Langeron) is the Art Director of the French electronic dance label Ed Banger Records and he alone is responsible for the brands artistic visual identity. SO-ME considers Ed Banger Records to be his mothership, his work for the music industry is exclusive to Ed Banger Records as he believes that working for other record labels would weaken the visual identity he has created for Ed Banger and would confuse its audience. However, SO-ME does produce work for clients of different fields.
SO-ME’s work incorporates that of vibrant colours, hand rendered typography and vivid illustrative designs. He is responsible for producing the album artwork for the record label and has even directed music videos for the likes of Kanye West, Justice and DJ Mehdi. SO-ME has also produced limited edition vibrant T-shirt designs for H&M and Japanese clothes label Revolver. His brilliant T-shirt designs were the main focus of the D.A.N.C.E music video he directed for Justice.
SO-ME’s passion for visuals drives him as much as his love for music. SO-ME believes that in an age of downloading music, album art is still as important now as it was when it could be held in between your fingers on a record album cover sleeve. He believes that the most successful of artists are those with the strongest visual identities and that in this day and age album art is vital in attracting the attention of its audience.
