Matthew Thomas is an illustrator and designer who goes by the name of Couscous Kid.  His work demonstrates the benefits of working on self initiated and collaborative projects together with commercial client led briefs in order to become established as a designer. Couscous Kid started out with more commercial based projects, working with clients such as: Jack Daniel’s, Hewlett Packard, Coca Cola, Southern Comfort, Q Magazine and Cannon. It was only later in his career that has so far spanned for over fourteen years that he discovered a talent for doodling with pen and ink and has produced a series of self driven art works which have enabled him to explore and develop as an illustrator, creating new and exciting illustrative styles. He enjoys working with other designers, illustrators and photographers and has recently collaborated with his wife Debra Thomas on a series of art works which combine her oil painted people with his hand ink illustrations. His work has been featured in Computer Arts Magazine and one of his contemporary digital illustrations was selected for the cover of Advanced Photoshop Magazine which truly displays his prestige within his field. The launch of his Couscous Kid website in 2006 has enabled him to present both his commercial and non commercial work globally, and this has led to a high demand for his artwork which is now available for purchase as limited edition canvas prints.
